Colomès + Nomdedeu Architectes has completed a building project Ecole Maternelle de Chaource. The structure of the building is made of wood and is conceived in a safe and clean construction and material-recycling strategy. This building relies on its environment’s qualities. Located in the heart of the Aube Forest, in a rural township, this public equipment is composed of 4 volumes, that have a geometric autonomy and were built in an environment-oriented spirit. The order was for the conception of a preschool as well as a premise for activities and a catering venue where services of the town of Chaource can gather and activities can take place. The project gives a simple and direct answer to the program as well as to the location while offering a modern architecture that is open, colored with a minimal environmental impact. The constructions restrict the consumption of energy and take advantage in the renewable energies that are available in the department without degrading them, through the creation of a wood heater.
