Twenty units on this site is held to be viewed as stacking of containers, as a tribute to the site using the former as a former storage room many outside the industry. This configuration creates expressive and unique quality space with a series of deliberate space as a blank canvas for artists to fill with activities. Interaction volume, and void, light and shadow, is a catalyst to enable artists and visitors to continue to explore and experiment outside the space community. In other words, this complex has become an alternative to living museum of art creation and exhibition. Located at Tong Zhou District, a suburb east of Beijing, Songzhuang is the most famous and largest artist community in China. The first artists moved here, including Yue Minjun and Fang Lijun, in the early 1990s, after being driven from other communities near the Old Summer Palace in Beijing-northwest. For over 10 years a virtual outcast artists with their work inspired many political, living and working under the strict supervision of the communist government. As an alternative reflects the complex pattern of life and work: an artist living in their studios, not to work but also interact with each other. Studio or workroom their living room and parlor and show space. On the other hand, they also create open space for different activities and performing arts. Working and living conditions of the scheme defines the high and the geometry of the two volumes: the height of six meters to three meters high and work for living a simple rectangular box to a studio and a complex geometry for the live show bedroom, kitchen and toilet. Life is plugged into a working volume of the volume both on the same level or led by the stairs to the top level. exterior is wrapped in dark gray concrete and coated in orange to the horizontal surface that is used to reflect both the industrial and rural character.
